You can adjust the contrast on Topaz SignatureGem LCD 4x3 or 4x5 signature pads (models T-LBK755 or T-LBK766). View the LCD Contrast Adjustments Guide for instructions.

A Topaz LCD pad with serial interface requires more power than can be provided by just the serial port of your PC.  Therefore, these pads are supplied with the cables needed to power the pads via USB port while sending the signature data to the standard serial port. Follow the instructions in the LCD Serial Troubleshooting Guide. An AC wall transformer is available for those who would prefer it. Please contact us for more information.

To connect your Topaz serial pad to a network, you must utilize the Ethernet adapter and cable. View the Topaz Ethernet Adapter How-To Guide for installation instructions.

If you are using a serial-to-USB adapter with your Topaz signature pad, follow the steps in the Serial-to-USB Adapter Guide.

Our pads are designed to be reliable, with certain ranges being ruggedised to cope with demanding environments.

That being said, none of our pads are "waterproof", and none should be exposed the very worst of environmental conditions.

As a rule, the following apply:

SigLite and GemView products should NOT be used outdoors where water, significant moisture and other particulates can affect their operation;

SignatureGem, ClipGem and KioskGem units can be used outdoors in the dry, however they only offer modest splash-proofing, and so should not be subject to significant water and/or moisture exposure.

Of especial note here is that the pens for all except the SigLite products are "active", which means they have electronic components inside, and should never be exposed to water, significant moisture or other particulates.

We want you to derive the very best from your IDSL product, so if in doubt ASK US! We are here to help in any way we can.

There are a few steps you can take in-house to troubleshoot basic issues with your signature pad.

For SigLite pads these include:

Cleaning

The SigLite products work through a touch-sensitive membrane surface.  For the membrane to work and flex correctly there is a tiny gap around the edge of the surface between it and the casing of the unit, i.e. around the edges of the signing area.

In dirty or dusty environments it is possible for particulates become trapped between the membrane and the case in this gap.  So if you are experiencing any problems with a SigLite unit please try cleaning in the gap (ideally with some compressed air) as this may be the source of the issue and solve the problem.

PLEASE NOTE THE CLEANING SHOULD BE ONLY WITH COMPRESSED AIR. YOU MUST NOT USE ANY SOLVENTS OR CHEMICALS ON THE SURFACE OF THE PAD AS THIS COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE.
